(How We Fulfill Our Mission Statement)

Where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18). Our vision is to continue striving to Become a Real Church. What does this mean? Randy Moody in his book, Living in the Real Church, describes a real church as a “a place where burdens are lifted, acceptance is granted, comfort extended, and forgiveness is from the heart.” And I might add, a real church is also the place where egos are left at the door, there are no big I’s and little you’s. The place where Christ is Lord, souls are saved, filled and baptized with the Holy Spirit, the love of God over flows abundantly, and we go forth to make disciples of all nations. The vision is ever becoming a reality as we continue on our journey to becoming a more loving, praying and giving congregation.

(Why We Exist)

“To know Christ and make Him known in our church, community, and the global community.” Jesus said, “go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19a), and, “But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Our Jerusalem is the community we live in, our Judea is the city of Chester, our Samaria is the state of Virginia, and our uttermost parts of the earth is the nation and the world. Each of us are called to be ministers of Christ Jesus. To that end we commit ourselves to God’s mandate to make disciples the world over.
